Steel casting by SBV Steel Technology: When components need to be maximally durable and precisely fitting
When a part can no longer be milled, welded, or formed, it gets exciting. This is when steel casting comes into play. We show you how to transform complex geometries and massive demands into a single, functioning cast part. Technically well-thought-out, precisely implemented, and ready for use.
Where other methods fail, steel casting opens new possibilities
Constructively demanding components that need to be mechanically durable, temperature-resistant, or corrosion-resistant can often no longer be milled, welded, or shaped. At the latest, delicate transitions or undercuts make the effort high or the result unstable.
Materials can be selectively chosen, and functions like support structures or reinforcements can be cast directly. This reduces processing effort, saves weight, and increases process reliability in later use.
We accompany your project from design to series, until the end of the lifecycle
We do not see ourselves merely as suppliers but as technical partners. Every order begins with a concrete feasibility study. We analyze whether your component is designed for casting, which tolerances are achievable, and which method offers the best compromise between quality and economy.
From this analysis, a concrete proposal emerges for the right steel casting method, the suitable tool layout, and the planning of further process steps. This way, you maintain control over your project from the start.
Overview of our steel casting methods
We offer established methods for manufacturing precise steel cast parts. Each of these meets specific requirements for geometry, batch size, surface quality, and dimensional accuracy. A direct comparison clearly shows which method is suitable for which application.
Investment casting
Investment casting is based on the lost-wax process. Here, an accurate wax model is encased in a ceramic shell, which is then heated. The wax is melted out using steam, and the resulting mold is filled with liquid metal. This method is particularly suitable for complex, intricate components with high dimensional accuracy requirements.
Water glass casting
The water glass process is a link between investment casting and sand casting. It offers better dimensional accuracy and surface quality than sand casting but does not quite reach the precision and finesse of investment casting. It is based on a model coated layer by layer with a mixture of quartz sand and sodium silicate (water glass). The process is particularly suitable for larger parts such as angles, structures, and mounting elements.
Typical applications for steel casting
Steel casting is used wherever components need to be mechanically durable, thoughtfully functional, and precisely manufactured. We supply clients from various industries that all have one thing in common: they need a solution that works reliably and fits precisely.
Energy technology and offshore
Components in contact with media, corrosion requirements, or thermal stress
Machinery and plant engineering
Structural parts, mounts, deflections, functional components with complex geometry
Medical technology
Precision components made of non-rusting stainless steel, often with a smooth surface and tight tolerances
Two-wheeled and automotive technology
Functional components with defined tolerances, high strength, and series capability
Pump and valve technology
Pressure-bearing stainless steel housings, flanges, and connection pieces with sealing surfaces
Sanitary and process technology
Cast parts with internal threads, smooth transitions, and hygienic surfaces
We examine each application individually and find the appropriate solution – from the first sample to series production.
How a steel casting project with SBV Steel Technology proceeds
We accompany each investment casting project from first contact to finished delivery. Our goal is an accurate, economically sensible solution that integrates reliably into your processes. The process is clearly structured and coordinated by a fixed contact person.
Inquiry and initial assessment
You send us a drawing and 3D data, ideally including material preference, quantity, and information about the application area. We assess the technical feasibility and give you an initial assessment.
Consultation and quotation phase
We clarify open questions, advise on casting and manufacturing-compatible design, and choose the suitable stainless steel grade with you if needed. Afterwards, you will receive a non-binding offer with delivery time, tooling costs, and project planning.
Tooling and prototyping
After commissioning, a final simulation is performed to ensure an optimal casting process. We create the wax tool and produce initial samples for dimensional inspection, functional evaluation, and approval.
Series approval and production
Following your approval, we start series production. The components are manufactured, inspected, and, if necessary, mechanically processed or heat-treated.
Delivery as required
We deliver the finished investment cast parts on call, in defined batch sizes, or as a complete batch. Intermediate storage in Germany is possible if needed.

From idea to assembly-ready component
We accompany investment casting projects technically and organizationally. From consulting on the first model to the final delivery, we ensure that each component fits the application and project goal. We offer a combination of experience, equipment, and customer orientation that is unique in this form.
Our strengths at a glance:
- Connected plants in Asia for low-cost production of top parts. Over 100 CNC machining centers and more than 20,000 square meters of production area are available at each location.
- Technical consulting on geometry, material selection, and casting-compatible design. You talk directly with specialists.
- Certified processes according to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001. This allows us to meet the common requirements for quality, environment, and occupational health and safety.
- Flexible project handling with intermediate storage in Germany and demand-oriented delivery on call.
- Design and prototyping also for small series, for example through rapid prototyping using 3D printing of wax models.
- Own stainless steel hardening facility in Germany. This allows targeted adjustment of material properties and shortened throughput times.
