Aluminum die casting: Bringing components reliably into series
Are you planning a component that needs to do more than just look good? Our aluminum die-cast parts combine clear function, high dimensional accuracy, and real cost-effectiveness. We shape your idea and ensure that your project is not only castable but also makes sense to implement.
Aluminum die casting at SBV Steel Tech
In die casting manufacturing, liquid aluminum is injected with high pressure into a molding tool. The result is components with dense structure, defined surface, and precise dimensional accuracy. Due to short cycle times and high repeatability, the process is ideal for medium to large series.
Overview of the aluminum die-casting process
A functioning die casting manufacturing is based on planning, experience, and clear communication. We guide you step by step through the process.
Component analysis with a technical perspective
We check your 3D data or drawings and analyze the demoldability, tolerance specifications, and optimization potentials. Already at this stage, we clarify whether your part can be optimally implemented in die casting.
Tool construction with a view to series capability
The die casting tool is precisely tailored to your component geometry. We define gating, ventilation, cooling, and demolding so that the later process runs stably and reproducibly.
Casting with high pressure and technical control
The aluminum is pressed into the tool and individual cavities at high speed. This allows even delicate structures to be realized with high dimensional accuracy. The entire process takes place under strictly regulated conditions.
Removal, deburring, and inspection
After solidification, the component is removed from the mold, deburred, and cleaned. Each part undergoes a visual and dimensional inspection before being further processed and packaged.
Mechanical processing and surface finish
Upon request, we organize all further processing steps – from drilling to milling to coating. We work with certified partners who meet our quality standards.
Aluminum alloys for die-cast parts
Not all aluminum alloys are the same. We recommend the appropriate alloy based on load, environment, and processing.
Commonly used alloys:
- AlSi12 for delicate structures and smooth surfaces
- AlSi10Mg for mechanical stress and processing needs
Advantages of aluminum die casting
Dimensional accuracy in every series
Due to the high pressure during casting, cast parts are produced with exact dimensions and low tolerance. This facilitates assembly and avoids rework.
High design freedom
Complex geometries, delicate structures, and integrated functions can be directly depicted in the tool. This enables compact designs and reduces mechanical processing to a minimum.
Functional integration in the component
Drill holes, mounts, latching tabs, or sealing surfaces can already be considered in the casting process. Thus, many processing steps are eliminated, and the process chain is shortened.
Low weight, good strength
Aluminum combines lightness with mechanical stability. The cast parts are therefore excellently suited for moving systems, temperature-sensitive installations, or lightweight solutions.
Fast series production
Due to the short cycle time of the process, larger quantities are achievable within short delivery times. We guarantee consistent quality in every batch.
Economics through scaling
With increasing quantities, the part price decreases significantly. Especially in series projects, aluminum die casting offers an attractive cost-benefit ratio.
